Thankful

Off and on in the last few years I've written daily gratitudes in my journal- just listing a few things that I was thankful for each day. It helps me focus on the good instead of dwelling on the hard. Outside of Thanksgiving day, how often do we take time to acknowledge what we are thankful for?

On some of my posts you may see a "Thankful" section where I give thanks for blessings big and small. I welcome you to add your own gratitudes in the comments section of any post.

Think about all the things that make your life happier, easier, or better.

In Encyclopedia of an Ordinary Life, Amy Krouse Rosenthal has an entry called "Thankful" that includes some conventional and not-so-conventional gratitudes. Here are just a few of hers.

I'm thankful for my health, my childhood, and spell-check. I'm thankful for our new hot water tank and how we no longer have to coordinate our dishwashing with our bathing. I'm thankful for the wide range of flavors potato chips come in--mesquite barbecue in particular. ... I'm thankful that I have not had to fight in a war. For platform shoes. For coincidences. ... I'm thankful for all the people who ever left, in those dishes by the cashier, a penny I later used. ... I am thankful for maybe.

What are you thankful for?
